چکیده

Abstract Background Height, weight, and body mass index (BMI) are well established risk factors for atrial fibrillation (AF) but whether they also predictors of successful pharmacological cardioversion AF is unknown. Data from the open-label INSTANT study flecainide acetate oral inhalation solution (FlecIH) acute recent-onset symptomatic were examined to determine if these anthropometric measures sinus rhythm (SR) with FlecIH. Methods Logistic regression was performed on a broad array patient disease characteristics identify success at 90 minutes post-dose, potential interactions by boundary restriction analysis. presented patients receiving 120 mg Results 81 (32.1% female) mean age 59.8 years (range: 26.0, 84.0) included in This cohort had weight 87 kg 57, 150), height 180 cm 156, 199), BMI 26.8 kg/m2 17.2, 37.9). A logistic model identified height, as significant (p<0.01) analysis revealed negative correlation between conversion rate across entire dataset (see Figure 1). Clinically rates observed values that considered normal (BMI <25 = 53%; 95% CI: 36, 70), overweight ≥25 <30 47%; 29, 64), obese ≥30 <35 43%; 17, 69); however, none severely ≥35 mg/m2) their successfully converted 2). Conclusions Successful recent onset FlecIH normal, overweight, kg/m2; decreases increasing BMI. Further evaluation dosing warranted. Funding Acknowledgement Type funding sources: Private company. Cardioversion of atrial fibrillation of recent onset with flecainide.

Twenty-eight patients with atrial fibrillation of less than 1 month's duration were given a single intravenous bolus of flecainide (2 mg/kg). Nineteen patients (68%) were successfully converted to sinus rhythm. Of the 19 patients with atrial fibrillation of less than 72 hours duration, 18 (95%) were successfully converted. Failure to cardiovert was associated with cardiomegaly on chest X-ray an...

Prediction of successful cardioversion and maintenance of sinus rhythm in patients with lone atrial fibrillation.

OBJECTIVE We aimed to prospectively investigate the predictive value of echocardiographic parameters for the prediction of successful cardioversion and long-term sinus rhythm (SR) maintenance in patients who have experienced a lone episode of atrial fibrillation (AF). MEASUREMENTS AND RESULTS Clinical and echocardiographic data, including mean left atrial appendage (LAA) peak flow velocity an...

Flecainide versus ibutilide for immediate cardioversion of atrial fibrillation of recent onset.

AIMS This study compared the efficacy and safety of intravenous flecainide and ibutilide for immediate cardioversion of atrial fibrillation (AF). METHODS AND RESULTS We conducted a prospective, randomised trial, including 207 patients with AF of recent onset (< or = 48 h). Flecainide was given over 20 min at a dose of 2 mg/kg body weight (maximum 200 mg), ibutilide was infused at a dose of 1 ...

Atrial Fibrillation Recurrence Predictors after Conversion to Sinus Rhythm

PURPOSE We aimed to identify predictors of atrial fibrillation recurrence after conversion to sinus rhythm. MATERIAL/METHODS We included 100 patients with a history of documented atrial fibrillation in the last 12 months that were assessed by transthoracic echocardiography, 12-lead electrocardiogram and signal averaged electrocardiogram of the P wave. Follow-up was 7.3 ± 2.2 months. RESULTS...
